Barry Town United are delighted to announce the signing of striker Eli Phipps from Weston-Super-Mare.
The 21-year-old spent the 2018/19 season with the Seagulls in the National League South, having arrived from Colchester United last summer. He featured in the same division the previous season too, on loan at Welling United.
Phipps started his career at Cardiff City, spending over a decade in the Welsh capital scoring regularly for the Bluebirds youth teams to earn a first professional deal with the club in 2015. He would go out on loan to Gloucester City the following year before signing for Colchester in January 2017.
Reacting to the signing, manager Gavin Chesterfield said:
“It’s something I looked at last year but it wasn’t to be. Eli is a striker, a goalscorer and I think he’ll improve us in that part of the field.
“He’s a good age and he’s already fitted in well with the group. I think that the coaching staff and I will be able to get a lot out of him and hopefully help him improve and he can be a very productive player in a Barry Town United shirt.
“He’s got a good pedigree having spent a long time at Cardiff City and Colchester. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
