Five Barry Town players have been selected to represent Wales C in their upcoming International Challenge Match against England C.
The game on Tuesday 24 March at the Oval, home of Caernarfon Town, will be the third of its kind after England won 3-2 at Jenner Park in 2018 before a 2-2 draw was played out at Salford City’s Peninsula Stadium last year.
Mark Jones and Owain Tudur Jones have confirmed their squad for the fixture, which includes Luke Cummings, Chris Hugh, Evan Press, Clayton Green and Kayne McLaggon.
For Hugh, an ever-present at left-back this season, and McLaggon, our top scorer with 12 goals to his name, it is a third call-up after the pair were selected for the previous two games against England. Hugh started both encounters, whilst McLaggon would ultimately miss out through injury two years ago at Jenner Park before scoring in the 2-2 draw a year later.
Meanwhile, it will be Green’s second involvement after he started at the Peninsula Stadium 12 months ago and got the assist for McLaggon’s goal.
It is a first call-up for both Cummings and Press, who have had excellent seasons in a Town shirt so far. Cummings signed for the club from Carmarthen Town last summer and has stood out for his displays at right-back, netting two goals in the process. It has been a breakthrough year for 19-year-old Press, who shone in the Europa League and scored the winning goal away to The New Saints back in September.
Congratulations to all five players!
