#FlippinKell | Barry Town sign goalkeeper Kelland Absalom

Barry Town United are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Kelland Absalom from Carmarthen Town.

Absalom played academy football for Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic, before making the move to Swedish side Ytterhogdals IK in 2017. Two years later, he joined top-flight outfit Ostersunds where he was named on the bench in several Allsvenskan matches.

Upon returning to Wales, the shot-stopper was on the books at Haverfordwest County and then made the switch to Carmarthen earlier this year. He featured for the Old Gold in their Nathaniel MG Cup first round tie against Cambrian & Clydach Vale last month.

The 23-year-old was capped six times by Wales at Under-17 level and also featured for the Under-21s under current first team boss Rob Page against Albania in 2019.

Gavin Chesterfield said: “Kelland is a player we have been aware of for many years and we are delighted to finally capture his signature. In this regard I would like to take the opportunity to thank Carmarthen for their professional approach on this transfer.

“Like many others Kelland, has endured a tough couple of years due to Covid but I firmly believe he’s joined the right environment to continue his development and growth. His age, style of play and approach to football suits us and he’s a great addition to the squad.”
