We’re keeping it in the family this transfer window, as Barry Town United are delighted to confirm the signing of Kyle Patten.
Kyle, the brother of current Barry midfielder Robbie, joins the club from Southern League side Merthyr Town, where he has spent the last five years.
Patten played in both the Cardiff City and Newport County academies, signing a professional deal with the Exiles in September 2014. In the same month, he headed out on to Bath City on loan.
Another loan spell to Merthyr would follow in January 2015, before his Football League debut for Newport came as a substitute against Dagenham & Redbridge three months later. That summer, Patten midfielder joined Merthyr on a permanent deal.
Now the 25-year-old makes the switch to Jenner Park having scored in his final game for the Martyrs on Tuesday night against Hayes & Yeading.
Gavin Chesterfield said:
“Kyle is a versatile player who can play in both defence and midfield. He comes with a good pedigree and background both with Cardiff and Newport. He has shown a real desire to want to play for our football club and I’m delighted to have him with us.”
