Luke Cooper signs new Barry Town contract

Barry Town United are delighted to confirm that Luke Cooper has signed a new contract with the football club.

2021-22 will be Luke’s sixth season at Jenner Park after signing in the summer of 2016. In his first year at the club, he helped the side to the Welsh League Division One title and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Cymru Premier.

To date, Luke has made 168 appearances for Barry and scored nine goals, rarely missing a game. The 28-year-old is another of the most experienced players in the squad and has worn the captain’s armband on several occasions, including against NSI Runavik in the Europa League last year.

Gavin Chesterfield said: “Luke’s desire to do well for this club and his teammates comes through in every conversation we have. He’s a big character on and off the field and I’m looking forward to seeing what next season holds for him.”
