Barry Town United are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Mike Lewis has signed a new contract with the football club.
Mike is the latest long-serving player to agree an extension at Jenner Park and 2021-22 will be his sixth campaign as a Barry player after he signed in 2016.
In his first season at the club, Mike helped us to the Welsh League Division One title and also won the Supporters’ Player of the Year award. Since then, he has added to his previous experience in the top flight and established himself as one of the Cymru Premier’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
To date, the 32-year-old has made 148 appearances for Barry. This includes three in the Europa League; in the 0-0 draw against Cliftonville in 2019 he kept our first clean sheet in Europe since 2001.
Gavin Chesterfield said: “It’s great to be working with Mike again for what will be his sixth season at the club. He has a huge amount of experience in the Cymru Premier and has brought a lot to the club in his time with us. He carries a good presence and I feel his best years are ahead of him.”
