Paul Morgan departs Barry Town

Everyone at Barry Town United would like to wish Paul Morgan the very best of luck as he moves on to a new opportunity.

Barry-born Paul joined us in August 2012 after leaving Newport County’s academy, and in the eight and a half years since, he has become a stalwart of the football club. He departs having made a total of 184 appearances, scoring five times.

Paul has experienced all the highs and lows of our whirlwind journey over the last decade, being part of the squad for our Welsh Cup semi-final in 2013 before we were withdrawn from the league a few weeks later.

He stuck with the club and won all three divisions of the Welsh League, as we rose from Division Three to the Welsh Premier League in the space of four years. He was named as the Young Player of the Season in both 2013/14 and 2015/16.

The right-back then went on to make several appearances in the top-flight, and also made his European debut in the second leg of our UEFA Europa League preliminary round tie against Cliftonville in July 2019.

Gavin Chesterfield said: “Paul can be proud of everything he’s achieved at the football club. Numerous trophies, numerous highlights and he’s gone all the way through the divisions with us. I think the world of him and I know how much he loves the club. The boys will miss him because he’s a big part of our changing room, but I know he won’t be a stranger.”
