Wharton victorious with Saint Kitts and Nevis

Town midfielder Theo Wharton earned his 16th cap for Saint Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday in a 1-0 win over Puerto Rico.

The 26-year-old came on as a 60th minute substitute at the San Cristóbal Panamerican Stadium in the Dominican Republic, with his country already in the lead thanks to a first half goal from Vinceroy Nelson.

It was the first game in Saint Kitts and Nevis’s qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup; they are in Group F in the first round of CONCACAF qualifying and will also face Bahamas, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago before the top ranking nation progresses to the second round to meet the winner of Group A.

Saint Kitts and Nevis are next in action on Saturday as they face Bahamas in Haiti.

Everyone at Barry Town is immensely proud of Theo and wishes him and his teammates the best of luck as their qualifying campaign continues.
