Our Cymru Premier campaign gets underway this afternoon as we travel to face Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue (kick-off 2:30pm).
With supporters back in stadiums around Wales, the beginning of the new season is hugely exciting and we will be aiming to improve upon our fifth-place finish in 2020/21.
A 5-0 win against Llanelli Town in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup last weekend was the perfect way to mark the return of competitive football, as debutant Marcus Day grabbed a brace and Luke Cooper, Kayne McLaggon and Theo Wharton also got on the scoresheet.
Aberystwyth also progressed in the cup a week ago, beating Penybont on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.
There has been a change in the dugout at Park Avenue this summer, with former assistant manager Antonio Corbisiero replacing Gavin Allen. The 36-year-old has been busy refining his squad for the new campaign, bringing in Sam Phillips, Alex Darlington, Owen Orford and Gregor Zabret in the hope of building on the club’s 10th-place finish last term.
Since our promotion back to the top flight in 2017, we are yet to lose to the Seasiders and showed fantastic spirit to win both meetings with them in last season. Goals from Kayne McLaggon and Jordan Cotterill helped 10-man Barry come from behind to claim a 2-1 victory at Park Avenue, while Nat Jarvis netted an 87-minute winner in a 1-0 triumph at Jenner Park.
We can’t wait to be backed by your fantastic travelling support after so long without it. Tickets at Park Avenue are as follows: Adults = £7 for Adults; Concessions = £4; Under 16s = Free. You will be required to fill out a Covid questionnaire upon arrival at the stadium.
