Aberystwyth Town visit Jenner Park this Saturday as we look to secure back-to-back league wins for the first time since August.
Gavin Chesterfield and our players come into this game full of confidence following a triumphant 2-1 victory at Caernarfon last weekend. After a difficult period in early October, positive results against Bala Town, Pontypridd Town and, as previously mentioned, Caernarfon have really got us back on track. In particular, Kayne Mclaggon’s goals (7 in his last 4 matches) have been crucial in bringing about a change in fortune of late and his outstanding performances have in fact earnt our skipper the JD Cymru Premier Player of the Month award.
The Seasiders currently find themselves just one place above the bottom of the JD Cymru Premier League with a total of 9 points from their opening 11 fixtures. In the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season, Aberystwyth took the 3 points after a late free-kick flew into the back of the Barry net earning the Seasiders a 2-1 win. With just one win in their last 5 games (a 1-0 win against Cefn Druids in mid-October), the trip to Barry offers Aberystwyth a chance to gain some vital points as we enter the second half of the first phase of the league season.
This Saturday’s fixture gives us an opportunity to begin to build some momentum after what Chesterfield described as a ‘good week’ last week, and a win could see us move into the top half of the table, so it’s certainly all to play for.
