After two away games, we return to Jenner Park on Saturday afternoon to host Bala Town in the JD Cymru Premier (kick-off 2:30pm).
We suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Penybont on Tuesday night, as goals from Nathan Wood and Kane Owen gave the Bridgend outfit all three points.
It means that we go into Saturday’s match fifth in the Cymru Premier table five points behind Bont, and we are now keen to finish the regular league season as well as possible as we prepare for the European playoffs.
Bala will confirm their place in the Europa Conference League on Saturday afternoon if they equal or better Penybont’s result against Caernarfon Town. It would be the seventh time in nine years that they have qualified for continental competition.
Colin Caton’s men produced a surprise 2-1 win over reigning champions and league leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads on Wednesday night. George Horan scored an own goal in the first half before Henry Jones doubled Bala’s lead in the second, with Callum Morris pulling one back for Nomads from the penalty spot. Centre-back Nathan Peate was sent off for the Lakesiders.
Of course it was only last weekend that we travelled up to Maes Tegid, where a tightly-contested encounter ended 1-0 to Bala thanks to a second half Lassana Mendes goal.
However, the Lakesiders have only won on one of their last four visits to Jenner Park. Their trip to south Wales in phase one this season was particularly memorable for Barry as goals from Kayne McLaggon, Evan Press, Chris Hugh and Curtis Hutson secured a sensational 6-2 win.
Due to a Welsh Government and FAW ruling, games must currently be played behind-closed-doors until stated otherwise and your support will be hugely missed at Jenner Park.
While we appreciate the importance of social media in a time where supporters are sadly not allowed in stadiums, this weekend we are joining all other JD Cymru Premier clubs, the Football Association of Wales and the wider football community in boycotting all platforms.
This means that we will not be providing updates for Saturday’s game, but we feel it is important to take this stand, show our support and send a clear message.
Please follow Y Clwb Pêl-Droed and the Cymru Leagues website and app for updates during the match.
