We’re in North Wales this afternoon to face Caernarfon Town in the first of two away games in a row in the JD Cymru Premier (kick-off 2:30pm).
We returned to winning ways last weekend with a 6-3 victory over Flint Town United. Jordan Cotterill, Sam Bowen, Kayne McLaggon, Luke Cooper and Nat Jarvis all got on the scoresheet in a nine-goal thriller at Jenner Park as we showed a clinical edge to see off the Silkmen.
The result has left us fourth in the Cymru Premier table, with games in hand over every other team in the top half apart from Penybont.
Caernarfon currently sit in eighth, having beaten bottom of the table Cefn Druids 2-1 on Tuesday evening courtesy of goals from Cai Jones and Mike Hayes.
It was a first win in eight games for Huw Griffith’s side, who have conceded the second highest number of goals in the division but at the other end of the pitch have failed to score in just two of their games this season, so they remain a constant threat.
This will be our first trip to The Oval in over a year, as although both teams finished in the top six in 2019-20, the curtailment of the campaign due to coronavirus meant that we never travelled to Caernarfon in phase two.
We will be looking to make amends for a 4-1 defeat in Gwynedd in November 2019, and can take confidence from our 3-1 win at Jenner Park earlier this season. A brace from Kayne McLaggon and a bullet header from Curtis McDonald gave us a three goal lead, before Mike Hayes’s finish proved only to be a consolation for the Canaries.
Due to a Welsh Government and FAW ruling, games must currently be played behind-closed-doors until stated otherwise. Your support will be hugely missed at The Oval, but you will be able to follow this afternoon’s fixture through live updates on our Twitter page.
