Match Preview: Flint Town United vs Barry Town United

Today we make the journey North to face a Flint Town side in 3rd position in the JD Cymru Premier League after the opening 7 games of the season.

On the back of two disappointing results against Cardiff Metropolitan University (3-0) and Newtown (3-0) in both the Welsh Cup and league respectively, the match at the Cae Y Castell Stadium offers us an opportunity to get back on track and regain the form we found during August and early September.

After gaining promotion to the Cymru Premier in the 2019/20 season, Flint were unable to gain any points from us last term as we ran out 1-0 victors away and a dominant 6-3 win at Jenner Park saw us do the double over the Silkmen.

Nevertheless, Flint have begun their 2021/22 campaign in fine form with a number of victories, including an impressive 5-1 win at Cardiff Met and, despite being reduced to 10 men, a 4-1 victory over Newtown which have seen the side from North Wales climb to third in the league table.

The trip to the Cae Y Castell is sure to be a challenging one, but Gavin and the players will no doubt be confident that they can send our supporters back to Barry with 3 points.
