Newtown AFC vs Barry Town United| JD Cymru Premier | Match Preview

This Saturday we travel to Latham Park to face a Newtown AFC side who sit in 3rd position in the JD Cymru Premier League.

After the disappointment of last weekend’s 3-2 loss in the Nathaniel MG Cup semi-final at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Gavin and the players will be keen to get back to winning ways at Newtown as we push for a place in the top-half of the league table.

Prior to last week’s loss, the Town had enjoyed a period of good form, going 6 matches unbeaten in all competitions, including an emphatic 7-1 win against Pontypridd Town and an impressive 2-1 victory at Caernarfon Town.

Having finished in the European spaces last term, our opponents have begun the 2021/22 campaign in similarly good form, finding themselves in 3rd place after the opening 14 games of the league season. Nevertheless, a win for Barry this Saturday could see us rise as high as 4th position in the league table, just one point behind Newtown.

As we move into the latter stages of the first phase of the JD Cymru Premier League, every point is to play for and Gavin and the players will be eager to gain some momentum starting with a win this Saturday in front of our travelling support.
